Call for the 5th edition 2017 BABEL FILM FESTIVAL.
The fifth edition of Babel Film Festival will take place in Cagliari from 4 to 9 December 2017.
The Festival is sponsored by the Humane Society - Sardinian Film Archive, in collaboration with the Association Babel, Terra de Punt and Areavisuale and eith the support of national and international institutions of great prestige. Babel Film Festival is part of the path that Sardinia, the region, and the local authorities, Babel Film Festival is part of the path that Sardinia, the region, and the local authorities, are making for years in the preservation of the minority linguistic heritage.
Babel is the only international competition in the world dedicated exclusively to movies in minority languages, dialects, slang or "dead" languages and sign languages.
Thanks to the many partners and Filmmaker who believed in the project, the competition has had significant findings at national and international level, quickly becoming an opportunity for discussion and exchange between different minority populations. In 2016 the Festival was presented in Malta, the Netherlands, Germany and at several Italian festival's partners. Important was the renewal, also this year, of the patronage of the President of the European Parliament, recognition of great prestige for the organizers of the Festival.
As always, the new call is open to feature films, short films and documentaries in minority languages spoken in the world.

O concurso, aberto até o dia 10 de setembro de 2017, à meia-noite (hora em França), é promovido internacionalmente pelo Institut français, e beneficia-se do apoio do Centre National de la Cinématographie et de l’image animéé (CNC), da Union des compositeurs de musique du film (UCMF), da Commission supérieure technique de l’image et du son (CST) e da Radio Campus.
O cinema e a criação sonora musical possuem relações ricas e complexas. O Institut français e a Semana do som propõe aos profissionais e estudantes de cinema, assim como aos amadores, a realização de vídeos a partir da criação sonora original, com duração de um minuto e trinta segundos, dos compositores de música para filme Greco CASADESUS e Grégory COTTI. Um convite à imaginação!

Os prêmios serão entregues na 15ª edição da Semana do som em 2018 durante uma noite especial.
O júri, presidido pelo realizador e cenarista Yves ANGELO, é composto por artistas e profissionais da imagem e do som: Greco CASADESUS (compositor), Bob SWAIM (realizador), Charles NEMES (realizador), Clément COGITORE (realizador), Wasis DIOP (compositor), Véronique JOO’AISENBERG (responsável da Cinemateca Africa no Institut français), Alain BESSE (responsável do sector de difusão na CST), Thierry LEBON (mixador de imagens).
